Custom Furniture

Furniture shopping can be difficult. You can spend countless hours looking for just that right piece and still not find what you’re looking for. Sometimes you come close, but close just isn’t good enough. And why should it be? You know exactly what you want. You deserve it and you shouldn’t make compromises.

Perhaps you have a unique design you’ve created that you want brought to life. Maybe it’s a piece of furniture you saw in an old magazine or catalog that you can’t find anywhere. Or you’re simply looking for that breathtaking table that will fit perfectly in your dining room. Then custom made furniture from Downtown Fine Furniture might be the answer.

For years Downtown Fine Furniture has specialized in oak, cherry, walnut, maple, hickory and other wood furniture and in that time we’ve created unique, one of a kind custom furniture for people who aren’t satisfied with what is offered in the mass market. So if you’re ready for the beauty and elegance of handcrafted wood furniture built to you’re specification and that reflects your style then you’ve come to the right place. Why make compromises when you can have it exactly the way you want it.

How will my furniture be constructed?

Handcrafted. We believe that the best heirloom quality furniture available today is coming out of small furniture shops that practice Old World furniture making techniques. Their experience and attention to detail is unmatched by mass production factories.

The following is a list of construction features you can expect to find in your custom made furniture.

Quarter sawn
English dovetail joints
Mortis & Tenon
Hidden drawer glide system
Full pull out drawers
Soft closing drawers
Tongue & Groove (upon request)
Through Tenons (upon request)
Dowel Pins (upon request)
Mortis & Tenon w/Dowel Pins (upon request)

If there’s specific feature you’re interested in that isn’t listed please contact us.

What finishes are available?

From our ever popular Mission Cherry to an intense Dark Cappuccino your custom furniture can be made in a wide range of finishes. If there is a specific finish that you have or would like to match, we can sample it – or you can select from one of our house finishes. The choice is yours.

Where is the furniture made?

From small family owned Amish Country woodworking shops you can rest assure that your custom made furniture is handcrafted in the US by craftsmen with decades of experience and in small family shops dedicated to the creation of heirloom quality furniture.

How long does it take?

The average lead time, after a design and the specs have been approved, is approximately 8-16 weeks. However, this estimate may differ based on the complexity of your furniture’s design and the number of pieces you’re having built.

How much does it cost?

Every custom project is different. Some furniture may only require a different finish than our standard finishes, or you may want a unique size to better fit your living space, while other projects require a complete design from the ground up. That being said, you can expect to pay around 5% -25% more than a comparable piece.
